         Hi guys,

        Just a quick question!
Someone’s probably going to tell me that there’s already an answer to these questions somewhere, so sorry in advance if that’s the case

I’m considering different housing options as I prepare for a new bun, and I’m looking into building a house with NIC style cubes, I know these are very popular.

When you’ve built the cube structure, what do you use for the flooring? Plywood? Carpet?
Also do the buns need ramps between levels or can they just hop?  (If it makes a difference I’m hoping to get quite a large bunny)

Oh and I know the holes in the mesh cube need to be a certain size so the buns dont get their noses stuck  what size is that?

        Thanks so much everyone!

If you’re going to go with a larger rabbit, like French Lop, I would do an X-Pen instead of NIC. Larger bunnies can be less suited for leveled housing. For a French Lop it would have to be quite a large condo. 122cm X 122cm would be the minimum and  the condo equivilant is 4 grids X 3 grids.

My condo is 4 grids X 3 grids and this is how big it is:

That said, I used plywood and vinyl tile flooring for my condo and my X-Pens.

The flooring really depends on your bun. If he/she has impeccable litter habits then you are able to use carpet. I wouldn’t use the piled carpet but the thin sheeted carpet. Using vinyl is a lot easier for clean up. If you go the vinyl route I would suggest buying it in sheets versus the little squares. The suggestion is form experience. The vinyl sheets have gaps in between them when you place them down. They are very tiny. But it is a bit of a hassle to try to clean. The sheet eliminates this issue all together. I’m not all too sure about what the inch specification is for the grids. But Bed, Bath, and Beyond sells grids with the correct specifications. I believe that there are links on here that have the correct size.
