Hey everyone! So me and the buns (Belle and Barney) are off back to Suffolk in just under two weeks, and I’m trying to think of how to make life in my room more exciting for them whilst during the day I work long shifts in a hospital. My room isn’t very big, and they LOVE jumping around so I’m thinking a cat tree might be perfect!

One that isn’t too high, that is made of soft material would be perfect – It would be situated right squeezed in next to my bed so they’d have a soft surface to jump onto  What do you guys think, any other ideas?

Thanks! Anna, Barney & Belle xx

If your buns like to chew carpet than it may not be the best idea. Depending on how resourceful you are you could always build your own or hire someone to build one out of untreated wood if they do. You could even wrap it in organic hemp fiber for extra fun.

I agree that it shouldn’t be very high in case they slip.

I have a very large cat tree for my cats and the bottom has a hidey hole. Bromley loves to hang out in there, but he is still being trained not to chew the carpeted outside.

He hasnt expressed any interest at all in chewing carpet so far, so hopefully that wouldn’t be a problem Thanks for your reply! xx

I’ve been looking at cat trees too! There ARE a few that are pretty low and have levels like steps to make it easy for buns to get up & down. If you get / build one, I’d be curious how your buns like it!

I would think card board boxes would be more exciting to bunnies than a cat tree, and you can get them for free.

Along with the chewing, it would also be hard to clean if they peed on it since the carpet is attached. I think cardboard might work better, and it’s safe to be chewed on.

If you’re handy, another option would be to make something out of wood and use loose fleece blankets to soften it that can be thrown in the wash.

If you search this forum for “sideways E” you will see my thread for what my husband built as an xpen shelf/hidey house. It’s has been an awesome addition to our xpen. You could do something similar but make it two levels.

That’s a cool idea. Maybe you could cover it in a blanket so that if they pee it wouldn’t soak the carpet.

Yeah cardboard boxes would be better … but they’re not that stirdy (the ones i’ve used before have been quite topply) and as Belle only has 3 legs I need to be confident that it’s really stirdy for her to climb on They’d be especially flimsy if one of the buns peed on them lol!! My main issue with the boxes is that I dont have much floor space at all, so would only really be able to have a tower of boxes which doesnt seem so fun
                      Hmm!
I am moving home in 10 days so will reassess the amount of space I have, and see what I can do! Will certainly post pictures of whatever I do xx

Almost moving time!!! You all packed and ready to go?

Brom figured out how to get on my giant cat tree this weekend and I thought I just had to put it here! lol This is a 6 foot cat tree so it is not something I would want him on when I’m not right there, but it still made me laugh.

How about the Little Lotus Cat Tree (3 feet tall)? I have the 6′ one, and my foster rabbit loves hopping on the box and the first step. He even goes inside the box sometimes. The carpets are removable in case its being peed on or chewed on. I don’t recommend it if your rabbit will hop on the top step, but my rabbit knows the higher steps are not a good idea.
