Hera has taken to poop warfare against Zeus.  She creates a perfect ring around his cage of poop.  And there’s A LOT of it, and she does it EVERY SINGLE TIME she’s out of her cage.  I’m tired of cleaning it up, and I know it’s a territorial thing.  She occasionally pees as well, and that’s even more of a pain to clean up.

Any suggestions?  I clean it up religiously, doesn’t seem to help.  I doubt adding a litterbox nearby will help; it’s “screw you, this place is mine, large rabbit!” poops.

They have such a strange relationship.  After she finishes Poopageddon, she likes to flop out superbunny style right up against the bars and they lay together, seemingly kinda sorta enjoying each other’s company.  There’s way less growls and nips than ever.  But ahhhh… the poop!  The poooop is everywhereeeee!

Oh, and FWIW, Zeus ignores her completely when she’s having her own personal poop party.

My poor carpeting asked me to bump this thread. I need to buy stock in carpet spot remover.

I didn’t see the first post. I have to be honest though it may be a neverending story when you have more than one rabbit in the house. However I would at least try the litter box (put her litter box out and see if that helps.

Before our buns were bonded – both were pooping EVERYWHERE!!! It was terrible. I had to vacuum 2x per day – but as you say, it’s a territorial thing – and until they’re bonded, I doubt it’s going to get fixed.

Baxter who used to have perfect litter box habits – became awfull when we brought home Boo. He would poo and pee outside Boo’s cage several times per day. Then when Boo’s hormones kicked in – he was almost as bad as Baxter! Once they were both fixed and bonded, it became so much better, but Baxter never returned to his perfect habits. As Sarita said – it can always be an issue with more than one rabbit.

As Boo spends most of his time in the man cave, where they get locked in at night – Baxter feels it necessary to leave his scent all over the room when he returns for the evening.

Thanks for the input guys. Not sure if they will ever be bonded. They are definitely becoming more and more accustomed to each other over time, but there’s still an occasional growl and nip. Zeus did try to give Hera a few grooms the other day though, wahoo.
