I  was at the petstore the other day and saw a package of colouerd corn husk nesting. It was made by superpet. I thought it would be cool to make toys out of it or something. The package says that the colouring is safe but I was wondering if the corn usk itself is ok for rabbit to chew?

It’s not good to give corn husks to rabbits. I did a search on our site because I remembered the question about eating them, but not the answer. Here’s what I found from a highly respected source of info, Dr. Dana Krempels:
“I would not give them corn husks for two reasons. First, they are very stringy, and hard to chew. Since I know of bunnies who have gotten the strings of celery caught on their teeth and caused serious problems, I would think the same thing might happen with corn husks. Second, corn husks, unless they’re from organically grown corn, are loaded with pesticides. I just wouldn’t feed them to my bunnies when there are so many other good things to feed them:

The question was about actual husks, but the pet stores have so many items that are even worse, I would not risk it. Motto: When in doubt, don’t.

Sorry to derail the topic but– is celery really harmful to rabbits? Because I give mine celery almost every day :/ I looked it up and it seemed pretty kosher, but maybe not? Now I’m so paranoid! Gah.

celery is fine, just cut it up into small chunks first, so it doesnt have the long strands
