My bunny butt got the hiccups today and it scared the bejeezus out of me.  I couldn’t hear it but she had that chest-hopping thing going on… i don’t know how to explain it but i’m sure you know what I mean… so it looked like she was going to go into convulsions or something… except she was sitting up and not acting like anything was wrong.  She only did it for a minute or two; long enough for me to get really panicked and google like the world was ending.  Then they went away and she gave me that “why are you just staring at me when you should be petting me” face. Little diva brat…

LOL. Yes, they have been known to get hiccups. And they also have been known to act like they’re dying, watch us panic, and then get up and binky away. Snickering under their breath, whispering “Gotcha!”. Which is why we sometimes ignore them when they are not faking it. You did the right thing.

OMG. I’m so glad you posted this thread!
I’ve been trawling to see if anyone else’s rabbits had ‘symptoms’ that my girl has had.
She would be laying down and I would hear this strange noise and looking for her I would notice her almost spasming in time with her breathing/noises. But when I go to make sure she is OK she stops and looks at me like I’m a total weirdo. The first time I was so worried! I thought she was convulsing or having a fit but it stopped the second I got near her.

I really do feel like face palming myself… it’s HICCUPS! Urgh. Rabbits…. they are the brats of the pet world without a doubt.

Both of mine have had them. Only Wooly makes noise with it.

Bindi gets hiccups. Always when he’s laying down. It looks so strange.
