Ive had my 3 Angels for 2 years. Mischo, Noof and Foof. They were rescued from miserable conditions in a Pet Store when they were babies.

Now very much spoilt rotten they rule the house!

I have some issues that hoped you can help me with.

My Brown rabbit and one of My White rabbits has a very very large fat ring on their neck. It dosent seem to be painful for them.

Does anyone know what it is and why my 2nd white bunny does not have one?

Also, one of them seems to be mating the 2 others quite frequently over the past 2 years but no babies have occured yet? Is that also normal?

Your advice + help would be much appreciated!

        Thanks

Without pictures, can’t say, but by fat ring I assume you mean a dewlap. Not all rabbits have them and no it isn’t painful to them. Are your rabbits all together and not spayed/neutered?

            Thanks for your reply.

Can you give me some more info on what a Dewlap is? And is it gender specific?

Yes they are un neutered and un spayed together as I was under the impression for the past 2 years all the bunnies were girls. But now I’m not so sure!

            Thanks

You need to seperate your bunnies asap. You don’t want to be overrun with oops litters or have any fights amongst them! Get them sexed and checked up at the vet and then the girls spayed and the male neutered. Dewlaps are what female bunnies get. This is so that when they are expecting a litter they can pluck fur away from their dewlaps.and line their next with it in preparation of her babies. Hope this helps x

Well if they have all been together for 2 years already and nothing has happened…

I agree with the others, sounds like dewlaps. Humping isn’t always a boy thing either. Girls hump too for dominance reasons. Even if they are all girls and you’re not worried about them breeding, you should still get them spayed. They are already over 2 years old and their risk for reproductive cancer is soaring exponentially. They have an 80% chance of getting it by the time they are 3 or 4 years old.

Dewlaps are mostly found in unspayed female rabbits. They can also be present in male rabbits, especially if they are overweight. A pregnant doe will pluck fur from the dewlap to line her nest.

I agree with the others. It’s very important to spay female rabbits. The cancer risk is very high.

Just re-iterating that spaying females is pretty essential to their health.

They have an 80% chance of developing uterine cancer and spaying reduces that to 0%.
