        Hello everybody!

Thought I would introduce myself since I just joined the forum!

I am a woman in my mid twenties who lives outside of Vancouver, BC, Canada. I live with my common law husband Spike and our “zoo.” I have always been animal crazy and kept a lot of pets. We currently have 1 dog (Chance), 2 cats (Twitchy and Gypsy), 1 bunny (Bromley), a menagerie of birds (bourke parakeet, turquosine parakeet, zebra finches, society finches, canary, brain damaged gouldian, and button quail), and a 60 gallon fish tank. All of my furbabies love each other to bits and nobody seems to know exactly what species they are!

I come from generations of bunny breeders and keepers so it is not suprising that I got my first rabbit, George, when I was 3. My rabbits always had to stay in an outside hutch (Mom’s orders) until I was 13 and got Pippin, my first house bunny. While at work one day, my grandfather’s coworker mentioned that he had to go to his car because he was releasing “the stupid rabbit” at Vancouver Sky Train. My grandfather told him not on his life and took him. No way this harness and litter trained free-range house bun would’ve lasted 10 minutes! My grandfather brought him straight to my house and I have had house bunnies ever since.

As of this morning, I only have one bunny. Merlin crossed the rainbox bridge last night after a stroke. We buried him in the yard and I bought a purpleleaf sandcherry bush to plant over him today. He had a rough start to his life, being returned to the pet store because his new little girl wouldn’t look after him. He was obviously traumatized, although I don’t know what exactly he went through. He was afraid of being held and picked up and it took years of careful care to show him I wouldn’t drop him. He was also deathly afraid of my dogs and cats – but we overcame this and he loved his multi-species family. He mourned so badly when my old cat died! But in the 5 years I had him, he was spoiled rotten! I just wish he lived long enough to see the bunny castle my grandfather and I were building for him and Bromley.

My remaining bunny, Bromley, is a 5 month old mini rex lionhead cross, or a Lion King bunny as I like to call him (yay for Latin jokes)! I wanted to name him Mufasa, but 5 week old Brom was too tiny and cute to be a Mufasa. He is a tortie and resembles a lionhead more than a rex. But he has the softest fur!!! Most of my rabbits have been rex crosses, but he’s my first lionhead. Between him, the cats, and the dog, I’m vaccuuming every day lol. I can’t wait until he gets neutered next month so that I can get him a new friend. I got him as a companion for Merlin, but Mer’s failing health caused me to stop bonding them. They did have some good visits though!

Pictures of everyone are on my profile! I am a shutterbug so I will be adding lots more.
