I just got my first rabbit today, and while he’s very perky and seems in good health, I’ve noticed some pee around his tail and bottom, and I’m slightly concerned. He’s 2 months old, and I don’t really (or really don’t) have the money to take him to the vet until I get him nutered, so I was wondering if anyone has any idea as to what might be causing this. I don’t have a litter box just yet (though I am definiately getting one tomorrow) and I’ve noticed that he will sit/lay in his own urine, so do you think that could be the cause of the urine on his bottom? Also, how do I clean it off without hurting him?

Is there absorbent bedding/litter down in his cage?

I suspect it’s from him not having a litter box. Babies don’t know any better and will lay in their pee. Start working on litter training asap.

Now that you are the proud owner of a baby bun, I suggest you start saving up to get him in to see the vet soon, as all new bunnies (especially babies) should have a vet check-up.
