My vet isn’t open today and my bunny still has something wrong with her. She tested positive for coccidia and we treated it. Now she is takin benebac for her tummy but it isn’t helping. We usually find four smushed cecoctropes on the cage floor but today it was half cecoctrope half mushy poo in a pile. Then I saw her scratch at the floor and then she threw herself to the side and there was poo right by her. The vet couldn’t find anything wrong with her. We took her to another vet and they couldn’t find anything wrong with her either. Things she does:

Eats pellets and hay like crazy
I caught her chewing her yesterday’s news pellets
Cage is lined with news paper
        Takes benebac once a day
        Drinks plenty of water
        Lays in cage
        Plays in cage

Could she be over eating? Could it be the litter? I changed it and used Timothy hay instead. I don’t know what else to do! She has no parasites or anything else.

Prevent her from eating paper. If a bunny gets an upset stomach so that the bacterial flora in the intestines has been compromized and the wrong kind of bacteria have outnumberfed the benevolent bacteria, it can take time to get the stomach back to normal again. It can take months before there’s no more sticky poop. During that time you should keep the rabbit on a strict diet of lots of hay and no rich food like fruits and nuts at all and only a little pellets. Problem is though that your rabbit is young and still growing and in need of proteins. Perhaps you should give some Critical Care. There are digestive aids with enzymes and bacteria that you perhaps could try as well.

I hope someone here who is experienced with young rabbits can advice you. But til then, keep feeding her unlimited hay and water.

I wish you the best of luck with your baby!

Young rabbits need unlimited pellets and hay to grow properly. I found that as my baby rabbits got older I slowly had to eliminate the alfalfa in their diets to avoid soft poop.

Here’s what I did with my baby rabbits:
            1. They were eating alfalfa hay and alfalfa pellets but I was finding a lot of mushy poos mixed in with their normal ones.
            2. I switched from alfalfa hay to orchard hay and kept them on the alfalfa pellets. This was alright for a while but as they grew I was noticing some more soft poop.
            3. I switched them from alfalfa pellets to a timothy hay based pellets. Still fed in unlimited quantities + orchard hay that’s what they’re eating right now with no issues.

My advice would be to switch to a non alfalfa hay if you’re feeding any alfalfa hay. If you take away the alfalfa hay and you’re still noticing soft poo then I would switch to a timothy pellet. Switching pellets is a slow process that can take about 3 weeks or so. I believe someone posted the mixture ratios on one of your previous threads about this.
