I guess it’s true that Flemish Giants are a lot like puppies – she follows me around , comes when she’s called and begs for food when we are eating! I am sure it’s my fault as I gave her a blueberry from my dessert one night while I was at the table and it took her .05 nanoseconds to figure out that that’s where the yummy people food is! I realized my mistake really quickly, and I don’t feed her from the table after that one time, but she’s REALLY smart and digs at my pant leg looking for a hand out! (It doesn’t help that our Yorkie spends the entire meal on crumb patrol!) yesterday I sat on the couch with a handfull of crackers to eat – bunny jumped into my lap, I thought she wanted pets, but she zeroed in on the crackers in my hand and tried to pry one away from me! I shooed her down but she was relentless so I hate those 4 crackers really quickly and showed her my empty hands until she hopped down in a disappointed huff! Anybody else have begging problems? She gets unlimited pellets, unlimited hay and morning & evening greens, so I know she’s not really hungry. And I know I just have to never feed her anywhere but her food dish, but do you think she will ever stop begging ?

My buns are the same way. I started sharing fruit with them during their out time and now I can rarely come into the living room with any kind of food without them running over and begging. Usually, though, they realize it’s not for them and will leave. But if it’s fruit or something sweet, Olivia will bug and jump all over me. She has a real sweet tooth.

Bunnies are like dogs in that they REALLY love food. Not sure how to deter this behavior.

Chester begs for food whenever I get close to the refrigerator. He figured out that where I keep the greens and fruits. He also tried to eat my container of peanuts once. He jumped on the bed and zeroed in on them, and by the time I reacted he had his nose in and was holding it down with his paws! It was hard prying the container from his him! No idea how to discourage him to beg.

Lol! Okay… Well as long as I’m not alone! My last bun was so shy that he never really approached people. I always put his food & treats in his food dish and then he would wait til I retreated to an acceptable distance before he would partake. It’s REALLY hard not to give in to the cute factor, though!

My little girl will quite literally attack me if she even sense food. All up in my face with absolutely no reservations. She has to taste EVERYTHING or she will not rest, especially drinks… And she is well aware of where her veggies are kept and follows me to the fridge to sit in front of it and won’t move so I can’t close the door… so annoying. So cute but so annoying.

Bunneh learned quickly about the yummyness contained within the fridge, so whenever it opens, he’s RIGHT there. Zinga sometimes follows, sometimes not. But whenever I say “Bunnies want treats?” which is my usual announcement of treat time – they practically fall all over each other as they run to their mat. Hilarious. Friends an family can’t get over how bunnies are like dogs when they beg.

And like LPT I have shared fruit with them in the living room and now I can’t have any food they can have there. They jump all over me. I call it “having a bad case of the bunnies”. LOL

Cheri – I know what you mean about giving in to the cute factor. Its like my kryptonite.
