Tamariz is now about 5 months old and we’ve had her for about 8 weeks. She’s neutered and reaosnably well litter trained so has the run of the house when we’re at home. She seems happy enough, though we don’t often get binkies or zoomies which is a little disappointing. I hope she isn’t bored but if she is it’s not for want of trying. I keep trying to provide todays but she’s not that bothered. Here’s what we’ve tried so far…

Wicker and sea grass balls – she LOVED them in the first week and destroyed them. Bought more, now ignored.

Toilet roll tubes are only interesting when stuffed with hay and then discarded

Coke caps to chase and toss were a hit for about 30 minutes then no longer used

Plastic keys on a ring were tossed when offered but otherwise ignored

Box of paper and card board only investigated when food hidden inside

Sea grass house is used to sit in and ocassionally nibble on

clean carboard take out coffee cups tossed to move out her way then ignored

Cardboard box houses etc. Ocassionally explored

Apple twigs – went mad for these for a day or so then ignored.

        Wood chews – ignored

Any new ideas? Maybe she’s just not into toys and is happy but with not a lot of typical evidence like the binkies and only very ocassional bunny flops it’s hard to tell. Don’t want her to be miserable. She’s super affectionate and will often come and sit next to or on us for cuddles and loves cheek and nose rubs. She has a favourite stair she likes to lie on (though never flops out) and always sits under my chair when I’m working, ocassionalyl giving my foot a chin rub and bouncing up on my knee and then the desk to sit on the keyboard and interrupt when she really wants attention! She likes spending a long time in her litter tray eating hay and is going through lots of it just at the moment – perhaps she’s growing?

Would love to know if there are other top tips to try.

        Thank you. x

I did the brown paper treat bag for Fiona. (Cut holes in a brown paper bag, fill with hay, treats and pellets, tie with bunny safe string, and put on the floor.) she didn’t take to it right away but she keeps going back to it more and more. Now it’s one of her favorite things to attack and play with. Fiona’s only 9 weeks old so it takes her longer to play with it than adult rabbits, lol. Maybe try that?

My buns just like change, everything gets ignored when it’s been available for a week but when introduced after a while they gain interest again! They also love running through tunnels. I’ve got some that veg to together so you can make a maze with them! And they’re super easy to clean

Bought a tunnel. Never used! Will try the treat bag definitely and try moving some if the toys out so they seem new. Thnks all. She loves training for tricks and being with us. Maybe toys just aren’t her thing….

I want to do a paper box but I am worried that allowing her to chew on paper in the box will make her think she’s okay to chew paper whenever she wants. Do you have this problem with your bunny and the phone book?

If there is a stray piece of paper on the floor, my buns will nibble. The joy in the phone book (I think) is that it is something solid and anchored so they have the pleasure of ripping pages out. It is the ripping action that they seem to like the most. There is just something satisfying about it. LOL

I ended up giving her a phone book.. She loves it! But only the binder part of it, lol. She is also liking the advertisements in the Sunday papers. I have to ask the Daytona News journal if they use soy inks before I let her have them, tho.

Tricky to get hold of a phone book these days but will try to hunt one down. Thanks. The only the we’ve found so far that she likes is picking a card from a pack (my other half is a magician) but nothing she can do on her own has worked so far. Will keep trying. Thanks for ideas. xx

I usually put the phone book on the floor, open with the pages facing out.

Tamariz – My local phone (land line) company has them for free. You could try yours.

Thanks LBJ10. Having said we never get flops or binkies we’ve had loads of flops in the past few days. She seems really relaxed. Maybe because we’ve stopped work for the summer and been home more. We even got one enormous binky…so high! But they are still a rarity. Will definitely try and get hold of a phone book.

It’s worth a shot. Where I live, you can just walk into the lobby at the phone company and grab a phone book off of a stack. =)

They used to be delivered here but no longer. Everything online!
Having said all of my above, yesterday little minx spent ages chewing bark off apple twigs and then blinked across the rug and flopped out. Apparently she’s just picky about when she plays! Also took a great idea from another thread. Made snipped up loo roll into a ball and hid mint inside it. She rolled that around for ages before destroying it and munching. Nom nom nom….

I made my bunnies cool houses with old cardboard boxes and masking tape. They love hiding in them and jumping on top of them. They are also easy to stuff with hay.
