I’ve had my bunny for a little over a week now, as I received it from a family friend (who also did not tell us whether it is a male or female when we asked?). He/she adjusted well, and was doing fine up until I checked on him/her this morning. My bunny had spread hay and ripped newspaper all over the floor, and although I litter-trained him/her, there was waste all over his cardboard boxes (I cut them down to size so he/she can hop in and out, there’s three attached) and I checked in a corner of the room there was hay and ripped newspaper piled up in that corner?! My bunny’s running around right now with hay and newspaper in his/her mouth as I cleaned up that corner of the room since I have no idea what’s going on. He/she just started stamping its feet very loudly too, which I understand is when it’s angry, but in the past 10 min I have done nothing except refill hay.

I tried looking it up and a couple posts came up about a “fake pregnancy”..? I’m not sure if it’s sick or not…

She could be trying to build a nest. Changing her hay might have made her feel territorial, as you’re in HER space and messing around with HER stuff. It sounds like her hormones are kicking in and she’s not spayed. I would suggest looking into that as soon as possible.

It does sound like nesting. This is very much a female rabbits behaviour.
Did your friends have other rabbits?

If this is actual pregnancy, it would be at the end stages and your rabbit might start to pull fur to line the nest.

If is a false pregnancy, it will run its course shortly. I suppose it could be a stress reaction also, due to moving to a new home.

Goodluck! Really hoping you won’t have to deal with a surprise litter of kits.

I actually had a neutered male rabbit that did this as well and I’ve heard of this behavior with other males (neutered and not neutered as well) so it’s definitely not only a female behavior. I believe it was stress related.

I definitely advise you to get your bunny to a vet for sexing and then to schedule a spay or neuter.

                True ^
I’ve also heard neutered males may do this. Though they won’t pull fur I had read.
If there is fur pulling, I’d be even more convinced that wavvies rabbit is female.
