Winston is set with hay for the year!

Earlier this week I had completely ran out of all my oat/grass mix hay. Winston eats a variety but mainly oat hay from a local field I put up for my horses last year. I usually fill his litter box, using a lot of it for bedding, but it is by far his favorite hay to eat. He prefers this hay to Oxbow Timothy, Orchard, etc. I was wondering where to buy his next bale, what it should be and how he would like the new hay.

Last years hay is from a small field, raised by a family friend. They called yesterday and said they had 64 bales of last years hay I could buy for $4 a bale! It took us 6 loads to get it, but it is all tucked nicely away in my barn.

Winston’s hay crisis was averted! And, it really helps my budget as alfalfa hay for my horses is still $17/each.

Sammy would call a room full of 64 bales of Oat Hay “Heaven”.

As time goes by, watch for small creatures/bugs and mold in it.
