Came home to Apollos butt stinking like poop! Scooped him up in a bunny burrito and he had some sticky poop on his fur. Not much, but enough to smell! I cleaned him up as best I could, but I’m wondering if I should ring the vets? He turned down veggies for a while within the last two days, and now this. Are they related? Could he be sick? Is a vet appointment the best thing to do?

        Thank you,

        ~ Bunnygirl

Does he seem sick? (Hunched up, lethargic, refusing even treats?) Are there any other, normal droppings?

          You could rub his tummy.

What have you been giving him instead of greens? Excess pellets could result in too much cecals so he can’t eat all of them. Cecals have a pungent smell.

He didn’t want to come out for a run today. Kind of lay in his cage after munching some hay, yeah, he’s pooping okay, but I have noticed excess cecals on the fleece in his cage. I’ve tried tummy rubs, he doesn’t seem to be gassy or anything. Greens…his quarter cup of pellets and hay. His treats are sultanas. That’s it. I could reduce his pellets to 1/8th of a cup?

Reduce the sultanas – they are sugary and that could be the cause – sugar is a big problem for some rabbit’s guts.
