My bunny has recently been peeing in the house. He has always had great litterbox habbits but now it seems as if he is trying to pick a second litterbox in the house. He has become lazy! I cannot  put a litterbox inside the house-My dad will absolutely not allow me to. So what do I do? Scrub the house down with vinegar? I can’t blockade anything because I have siblings and parents. Oh, what do I do? Help! Mr. Kenny is now staying outside in a place which is surrounded by a fence. How do I make him a house rabbit again? I know he does NOT have urinating problems because he doesnt pee anywhere except his litterbox outside. He always used to pee outside now he has become LAZY! Please help! I need some advice. I really CANNOT put a litterbox inside.

Ive had him for more than 2 years and he was never lazy before. So I really just want to break this habbit.

Wait, he was inside and only has a litter box outside and he keeps peeing in the house? This doesn’t make sense? How does he have access to his litterbox if it’s outside? I’m confused. Can you elaborate a little more?

I just read your history. He isn’t going to go outside every time he needs to use a litter box. He needs one inside. Your dad needs to realize this in order to be successful in having your bunny INSIDE without peeing. I don’t know why he is so against having a litter box inside? They don’t smell. And just clean it after EACH use if he is so worried about it stinking up the house…

We made a built in bunny door to allows him to access his litterbox outside which is surrounded by a fence. The litterbox is in a hutch.

I really just can’t put a litterbox inside. Thats just how it is in my house. Clean it after each use? My bunny poops and pees ALOT! I know that my bunny can use the bathroom outside because he has been doing so for the bast 2 years. So I know that he is just being lazy. I just need advice on how to break the habbit.

Maybe tell your dad you’ll clean it everyday so there will be no risk of odor? What are the objections to having a box inside?

I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect him to go outside to use his litter box. He’s peeing inside and needs a box inside. I don’t see a way around that.

The bunny has done nothing wrong and he has been kicked out of the house.
He seems very well mannered. He just isn’t given the proper resources to succeed indoors. Something so simple, and he has been kicked out. It’s a shame, really.

I don’t know. There isn’t really any corners in my living room to put a litterbox. Our house is really packed with books and stuff. Can I maybe just scrub the house of his smell or something? With vinegar. His outside litterbox really isn’t that far away from the living room. Their almost litterally right next to each other! He can just do a quick run and he’ll be there. Its not like he has to climb down a flight of stairs.

living room is next to the outside door! -forgot to mension that.

You could try to clean up the spot. A good cleaning “trick” is to sprinkle baking soda on the spots they pee, let it sit, then use vinegar on the baking soda (it will fizz) before cleaning up all of it.

It may or may not help. I still think a litter box inside would be the most effective fix. Is your bunny neutered?

You don’t necessarily need a corner, when they get the hang of litter training they’ll use it anywhere, even under a table provided there’s room

Hit the Submit button ONCE and then wait. If you double click or triple click it will post multiple times. One and done. Sometimes it just takes a little bit to load and people think that maybe they didn’t hit it the first time and click again causing repeat posts

! Not under the table! He has never done his naughty business under the table. He actually seems to stay away from under there. Don’t know why…….But I truthfully can’t put a litterbox inside(My dad really said No). My dad said that his litterbox is so close to the living room anyways.

so is it possible for me to remove his smell? So that he won’t pee in the living room anymore? Cause he peed in another spot again which was EVEN CLOSER to his litterbox!

It’s possible to remove the smell but that may or may not make him stop peeing inside.

Okay! I shall try that! Oh, wait. Is it possible that I could make his litterbox outside more comfortable for him. Like add a lot of hay or something?

If you remove his smell in the room it might make him want to pee in there more because he will want it to smell like him….(this is just a possibility I’m not an expert either so…just an opinion)

Definitely add some hay to his box! It might make him wan to use that box even more because he has a tasty snack waiting for him while he does his business Bunnies like to munch and go at the same time. Both my buns are in their litterbox as we speak eating hay and doing their business lol They always take bathroom breaks together, it’s comical

Your family expects your bunny to go OUTSIDE to pee? That’s just outrageous…

Not that any of that helps you! I’m surprised it’s worked this long. My buns would laugh at me and pee in the nearest corner to get back at me if I tried that! Is there one certain spot he’s using the bathroom in the house? I would put a litter box there. Surely some things can be shifted around to accommodate the little fellow. It’s really not fair that he’s been removed from the house because of something this small. Putting him outside isn’t fixing the problem, it’s simply throwing the bunny outside where he will learn nothing.

Mr. Kenny Bunny isn’t peeing in the house anymore! I just put him outside for a short time so he can use his litterbox(his litterbox is in a hutch which is surrounded in a nice big fence and is protected from the weather by a outer deck cover-he get outside by a built in rabbit door), and I put hay in his litterbox area outside-now he seems to enjoy going there. All the areas I sprayed with vinegar-he just sleeps there and no longer pees!

-I thought I should clear up that the outside rabbit door is right next to the living room. So when a lot of you said I should put a litterobx inside, I just thought that would be too much because Mr. Kenny Bunny litterally only has to run less than 10 feet to get to his litterbox outside. Its not like I was making him run down a few flights of stairs.

You could do that but that does not guarantee he will always use it. Its seems unreasonable to expect him to go outside every time he has to use the bathroom which is obviously A LOT. How would you like it if you had to go outside every time you go to the bathroom especially considering the amount he goes. I don’t see an absolute great decision except for putting his litter box inside
