Chester doesn’t seem to be a big hay eater. I keep putting in new hay in his feeder everyday, but he doesn’t seem to interested in it. He’d much rather munch on cardboard  How can I make hay more appetizing?

At this point he gets two kinds of hay: timothy and botanical. He loved the botanical when I first got it, but the novelty weared off in a couple of days.

And Chester is an adult lop, about a year and a half. Cute as a button too

Have you tried Orchard Hay? That’s usually a favorite. Mine go crazy over Meadow Hay as well.

I haven’t yet. I tried botanical this week. I’ll hopefully be able to do a stop at the store on the weekend, and I’ll get some orchard!

Do you feed them a mix of hays everyday, or do you rotate kinds?

Orchard Hay is my bunny’s staple hay because my husband is allergic to Timothy.

Occasionally I buy Meadow, Oat, or Botanical and mix it in to their Orchard for some variety. I would say 95% of the time they only get Orchard. My rabbits are little piggies when it comes to hay though. If you’re bunny gets tired of a certain kind after a while than it might be beneficial to rotate as a way to stave off boredom.

My buns started getting bored of their hay and I got some Oat hay and my my they are in LOVE! They munched on it so fast! I’ve decided to use Timothy as a staple and rotate out a second kind of hay to keep them interested. They eat the oat first and then nit pick at the Timothy.

                  Thanks everyone

I’ll try getting some orchard and some oat, if the store has it. I’ll rotate, because it seems like he gets bored with hay easily.

The store was out of orchard, so I brought oat. It’s a huge hit! Chester has munched two handfuls already

                      That’s great!
You can also try hay toppers which you can buy here on binkybunny or make your own version.
