I’m so glad to have found this site! Tomorrow I am going to meet – and most likely bring home – my first bun! I recently became interested in getting a rabbit after spending time with my cousin who breeds Holland lops. She has a friend – also a breeder – who has a one year old lop who is looking for a pet home. He’s a total snuggle bug. Loves to be held and carried and loved on. She feels he’d be much happier in a pet home than in her rabbitry. I’m anxious to meet such an affectionate bunny!

Any tips for acclimating bunny to our home? I’ll schedule his neuter ASAP.

Yay how exciting! Be sure to post pics of your new addition! I’d just give him a couple days and allow him to settle in and get used to his surroundings before letting him out. You will have to play it by ear. Sally (pet store bunny) took WEEKS before she was wanting to leave her cage and explore and even then, she would dart back to her cage anytime anything moved or made a noise lol And Harley, whom I got from a breeder, was ready to explore and was super affectionate from the moment I opened up the kennel to let him out! So it just depends on how well the bun takes it on what you can do. If they are acting nervous, just let him relax and get acquainted

You are one lucky person to find such an affectionate rabbit! Most buns do not like to be held….I sure wish mine did. Both our buns lived in cages, till we brought them home. And they were both so curious – that they started to explore the house from day 1.

I would just leave the cage open – and let him decide when he’s ready to roam about. And although he’s very affectionate – he may need time to warm up to you. So just sit on the floor while reading/watching tv/using laptop….and let him come to you. Feed him veggies from your hand – so that he associates you with something good..

Please post pics of your new bun. And congratulations!

Thank you! I meet him tomorrow, not today. I had my days mixed up I’m anxious to meet him and see how he interacts in person. It would be a dream to have such a personable, affectionate bunny. I will post pictures once I bring him home!
