Im going to worry all day until i get him back! My question is how long should i make him rest in his cage for rather than letting him race around my room? His new double decker house should arrive tomorrow but i dont want to over excit him too much! Thanks

Just watch him every once in a while to see if he’s moving around in the cage, you’ll be able to tell when he’s ready to be let out. He’ll most likely sleep or not want to move for the rest of the night because of the pain. It might be hard for him to get into his litterbox so you might have to help him or just let him pee/poop in his cage.

We made our xpen smaller to confine our bun’s space and he mostly laid on the floor, with no desire to hop anywhere. He only did it when he needed to use his litterbox which I was surprised that he was able to do. We brought his food/water to him and encouraged him to eat. The next day, he was moving around more, but not racing or going too far. We also made sure he didn’t jump on the sofa b/c he wasn’t fully healed yet and that would slow down the healing time. So no jumping on things and slowly increase the space he gets until you see that he’s back to normal.

Well normally at a minimum at least 2 to 3 days. If he’s used to be free roam that’s probably all he will be able to tolerate.

Normally the males bounce back pretty quickly from their neuters and hopefully that will be the case with Barney too.

Beckham was just neutered a week ago and I was told to restrict movement for 48 hours. We just kept him in his xpen even though he barely acted in pain. Good luck to him!

I have him back now, they shaved loads of his huge matts off whilst he was sedated which I was really thankful for, as being a rescue he was a state when I got him and wouldnt let me chop at him He is ok, has eaten 2 leaves of lettuce and a bit of hay which is good, and has done some poos He’s very quiet, and lying down a lot but that is to be expected! x

Yay! Glad he’s home with his mommy and eating/pooping is a great sign! Wish him a speedy recovery for me.
