A few days ago I took in a 6.5 year old bun from a family who bought it at a pet store in Lynn, MA. The bun spent it’s whole life in a tiny cage being fed guinea pig food, no hay, never having his nails clipped, and hardly being paid any attention. When I got the bun from them I was told it was a boy and it wasn’t fixed. When I brought 3rd bun (its temporary name) to the vet in billerica, MA today for its pre-neuter exam the vets couldn’t find its balls. It definitely hasn’t been fixed because the family prior to me got it at a pet store as a baby, and told me they never got it fixed. It has displayed non-neutered boy bun behavior such as humping my arm if I stop petting it and running around my feet in circles. The only thing that makes me think it’s a girl is I found what I thought to be 2 nipples. 3rd bun has an appointment to get fixed on tuesday so they will find out either way, i’m just curious.

          Yes males can have nipples.

Did the vet verify it was a male? You don’t rely just on testicles for this…

Also those behaviors humping and running circles are exclusive to males – they are also female behaviors.

The vet told me she couldn’t verify and they would figure it out on third buns surgery day.

That seems really odd she couldn’t tell the gender of a 6 yr old rabbit. Have you been to this vet for desexings before?

It’s really sad, the life it was living before. At least that’s over!
