I’m looking to move Elvis into an xpen and out of his cramped condo before I leave for college and I need some input about the flooring material. He is a huge chewer, so I can’t have any kind of carpet or rug and I tried foam puzzle mats but he tore those to shreds. I want to get a rubber mat of sorts, like a stall mat for those of you who have horses. It can’t be interlocking pieces because he’ll chew where the pieces come together. For those of you who use rubber type mats, where did you get them and how much (roughly) did they cost? The pen will be 4 foot by 4 foot.

        Thank you!!

You can use wood covered with linoleum. I know that several binky-bunnyers have had luck with this.

Oops, forgot to mention that he really hates slippery surfaces, he refuses to move whenever I take him in my kitchen thats why i was interested in a rubber mat. I may have to try to find a more textued type of linoleum… Thank you for the input colleenbunny!(:

I think you can get those mats at Walmart.

Would he chew on a short pile carpet? I buy a 5 x 8 – think that’s the size at Walmart that is about $20 – it is short piled (very short pile) and it’s cheap enough to toss when it’s soiled.

You might be able to cover it with a seagrass mat.

Before I settle though, any other thoughts on rubber mats?

I got horse stall mats from tractor supply.
I really like those mats. They are tough and thick, easy to clean, not slippery. The only drawback is they are SUPER heavy!

Hmm that might be difficult to haul upstairs…
I’ve been doing a little searching, does anyone use coroplast? I have no idea how durable it is or even what it feels like. Any suggestions??
