I just set up my first x-pen for my oldest bunny as he has grown out of his store bought cage.

He pees in his litter box, except when he gets surprised and sprays.  But he is pooping EVERYWHERE! I used to let him out everyday during the day and he would poop then too.  I vaccum it up with a shop vac but i have to do it 2-3 times a day because it is just SO much!

        What can i do??

**We are waiting to save up the money to get him fixed right now, because i know that plays a part in it as well.

If I remember correctly he had litter in the bottom of his cage all the time previously? He probably assumes his whole habitat is a litter box again like before. I would make sure to place some of the extra poops in his litter box to help give him a better idea of where they go. Putting hay in the litter box can also encourage better litter habits.

It’s also a new space so marking his territory might be playing a part in it. You are also correct about him not being neutered playing a role in it as well.

Freya poops everywhere too. She is only young though, she is too young to be neutered but is partially litter trained. I’ve left newspaper all around her tray as she often misses the entire thing (lolz) and as for the strays she leaves around I either use a tissue to pick them up (making sure she is watching) and put them in her tray, or use a little dust pan and brush to sweep them up and either bin, or in the tray with them. She will go on a mad spree dropping poops everywhere when I hoover though, but hopefully once she is neutered and settled down again the need to leave her scent around will drop too. I know some people suggest stroking the rabbit with a cloth and rubbing the cloth over the area where they keep pooping and peeing so it smells like them and they don’t feel the need to scent mark as much.
