Just brought home a 5-month old holland lop. He looks like a fluffy soccer ball, hence his name He was very friendly at the meet and greet but since bringing him home he seems scared. I set his carrier inside his xpen to let him explore and left the room so he could acclimate. Everytime I enter the room he dives back in his carrier. I’m hoping he just needs time to adjust and will come out of his shell. Any tips? Also, how high can they jump? Right now he’s in a 36 inch xpen with a cover that attaches but the cover makes it hard to put hay in etc. don’t want to remove it if he can jump over a pen of that height though.

He’s just getting used to you and his new place, I brought home my holland lop Caleb at 4 months and he was kind of always a curious kind of bunny so it didn’t take him too long to get acclimated to us. He did ignore us for a week or so but slowly warmed up to us. He still likes exploring more than pets sometimes but that must be his personality. When Caleb wants to he can jump pretty high not more than 2 feet high (that I know of, he might be holding back on us so don’t quote me. I know some bunnies can jump way higher than that). pictures are always good please pictures

A fluffy Soccer ball???? Can’t wait to see pics!

He will need time to adjust to a new situation. It will also take time to learn to trust his new humans and bond with you. My best advice, take care of him, feeding, etc but don’t pick him up or fuss with him. Give him a few days in his x-pen and then let him out for play time in a bunny-proofed area, sit on the floor and ignore him, let him come to you. You can offer a little treat or pellets when he comes over. He will come out of his shell eventually. Some bunnies take longer than others, depending on their personality and background.

Just let him explore for a bit, and maybe after a few days just sit outside of his cage and read or something. It might help him get used to you.
