         Hello!
I was on here a few weeks ago with some questions. I am now giving my bunny, Peter, baytril again. Of course, he hates the taste of it. The last time he was on it, I mixed it with honey and water or apple juice and water. During the past dosages, he developed a gas problem, so I am worried he will have the same problem again. I’m trying to come up with some treats and things to mix the baytril with that are not too sugary. If you have any ideas, I would love to hear them!
        Thank you!

How much is the dosage? I’ve tried squirting it on a treat or on vegetables.
          Did you get flavored baytril?

It’s 22.7mg, and I have to give it to him every twelve hours. It’s not flavored as far as I can tell. It’s in the pill form. I have to crush it up and mix it with water and whatever else, and then give it to him through a syringe. He’s a very picky bunny.

When I get Baytril, it’s the liquid form. My vet gives me a bottle of syrup to add to the Baytril. The bottle is labeled Val Syrup.

Here is an easier way to dissolve the pill than crushing it: put the pill in the syringe. Put the plunger in the syringe, as far as it will go with the pill in it. Suck just enough water (or other fluid) into the syringe to cover the pill. Shake it from time to time until dissolved. This will minimize the amount you have to administer.

As far as what to mix it with, beats me. I had to use a bit of Smuckers triple berry syrup on my gal and even then the syringe sessions were torture – she had gas as well, so after each syringe of baytril she got some simethicone. She’s on Baytril again right now but we went with the injectable this time.
