         Hi!

I’ve had my bunny for around 7 months now, and is is around 2 1/2 years old.

Hes been very healthy always eating, chewing, very happy and healthy. I recently got him a new cage and have been slowly bringing him to the new cage for around an hour at a time then bringing him back to his old cage in my room.

Hes very scared of the new cage which is normal i’ve read but ever since then hes stopped eating his pellets! He would drink water, eat hay and ive been feeding him some veggies because hes stopped eating his pellets! Is there any reason why he would stop? Is it because of the big change in enviroment?

His poop has also gotten smaller!! And Hes always shaking and scared of me now even when hes laying down, relaxed..

If anyone has any advice of the pellet problem please let me know!

        Thank you!

I would recommend taking your bunny to the vet just to be on the safe side. A bunny not eating isn’t a good thing it is best he gets looked at by a vet. I have switched my rabbit from one cage to another. When I did this I put her new cage in the same exact spot as her old cage. I didn’t have any problems. Is the new cage in a new room or some where different?

It is in a new room actually! Its downstairs, where as his old cage is in my room upstairs… do you think that is why he is like this right now? :/ Hes in my room now though. I havent moved him for the past 2 days tot he new cage because of this eating problem.

Its weird why this is affecting his eating, i’ve been feeding him some papaya pills in case its a digestive issue.. but if this persists I will be scheduleing a vet visit soon. I mean he is eating everything BUT pellets! Just hope hes not sick or dental issues or something.

If he’s eating everything but pellets, that does sound like it could be dental. When was his last annual exam? Were his teeth checked then?

I’m not experienced enough to really comment on the eating, except that hay is the biggest part of the rabbit’s diet, and they should have a lot of green leafy vegetables like lettuce too. Since you were feeding pellets, that they aren’t being eaten now matters, but the hay is Really Important!

About the cage, could you move the old cage to sit next to or near the new cage? I’d think being shifted back and forth would be confusing and very stressful. In a familiar cage he can adjust to the new place in the house, and if possible maybe you could let him play in the room with both cages open so he can explore it in his own time? But I really think the new area is the biggest change so having the reassurance of the old cage would help make it an easier transition.

I took him for a checkup mid March! Yea, the vet briefly looked and checked his teeth and said hes fine!

Im not sure how to  tell if his teeth is too long but he chews on a lot of cardboard and stuff that I give him so I think that his teeth are ok!

Oh boy yeah I think im going to try to move his cagenext to his old one or even place the new one right where the old one is..

It seems like hes very stressed out so I think I might have to let him relax for a week or so..

Thanks so much for all the suggestions and helpful comments everyone!
