Hi there i took my rabbit in today for her yearly check up and found out that she has to go have her teeth trimmed because she is favoring one side when she eats. I was wondering what to expect after she has this done and what I should be doing after she has her teeth trimmed? Thank you

I guess I would advise you to ask what the vet will do – in my experience every vet has a different protocol for dental trims (ie meds given before, during, after if needed).

What my vet advises is metacam and buprenex as needed. You may want to have some critical care to syringe feed if she does not start eating by the next day.

Every rabbit will be different – some of mine have bounced back quickly and some take more time.

Much depends too on how extensive the trimming will be too.

My rabbit refused to eat for three days after he teeth were done (and it wasn’t an extensive trimming) so definitely have some critical care on hand just in case. I would ask for pain meds too if your vet doesn’t automatically provide them (but I would guess most do)
