        Hello!

This past Monday I bought my first little bun bun! He is an 8wk old netherland dwarf.

I’ve been allowing him to become acclimated with his new home so I haven’t handled him. He has started to come up to the door of the cage when I come in the room and he sniffs my hand but thats all he’ll allow at the moment. I’ve been reading up on litter training. I suppose I can start now? Or should I wait a little longer for him to get use to new surroundings?

Once litter trained, I plan to make one of the mesh cubical housing that I’ve seen around. Looks awesome.

        Thanks!

        Heres a pic of Snickers

          He is so cute.
Yes you can start litter training now. I got my bun bun at 5 weeks and she got trained within a week or two.
Try to handle your bun bun every day, so he gets accustomed to being handled. He will probably tolerate being carried if you start young.
I carry my bun bun out of her cage from the top, instead of letting her come out on her own from the front.
She knows that if she wants to come out, she has to be carried out.
So she is getting used to being handled now, but not for long though. And a treat afterwards will make her really happy.

You can work on litter training with a baby – but they will most likely lose these habits as soon as their hormones begin kicking in. My baby right now has always been an angel with her little box – until about a month or two ago. When she went bezerk. Until spayed, her hormones are everywhere as is her feces!

Your bun is absolutely gorgeous though!

I dread when the time comes for my bunny to go for surgery to get spayed. I think I am more frightened for her than she will be for herself, but I know in the long run it will be better for the both of us.
