I’m nervous that when I get my almost 2 year old male rabbit, Binny, neutered that it may change his personalily.

Have any of you noticed a change in your bunny after being neutered?

          Neutering won’t change his personality.

My male rabbits were calmer and tidier after their neuter but their personalities were intact.

When I got Caleb neutered he was messier lol but he’s still a very sweet bunny. He did develop digging more but that might have happened anyway so (shrug) idk. It def won’t change personality though.

Well, I got my bun neutered a couple weeks ago (he is around 1.5years old). He doesn’t seem to be as active, and for a few days he did not want to come out of the bathroom…I think he was mad at me, lol. He does seem to be calmer, and actually started sleeping on the bed with me…and I thought I was forgiven until he started to passively-aggressively lick my face. He was showing affection? Yeah right, not at 2 and 4 in the morning and had never done it before! Jk, lol. He does seem to be more affectionate though, he likes to lick my feet and legs when I’m at my desk.

I just got my rabbit neutered yesterday and am waiting for him to get back to his normal self. I don’t think you have anything to worry about because everyone that I talked to beforehand reassured me that it wouldn’t change the rabbit too much. They are supposed to have better behavior and are calmer after getting it done. If I see any personality changes, I’ll update everyone.

@ninjabun- That’s so cute! Glad he’s changed for the better =D I love getting bunny kisses from my little boy, that’s one thing about about him that I wouldn’t want to change.

My bun changed some of his behaviour because it was sexually motivated. Now he doesn’t follow the dog around anymore. He’s not as bold as he was when he was deeply infatuated with her. That was the main reason for neutering him, that he pestered the dog. Cute as it was to look at, it bothered her.

Otherwise he’s the same, except he nolonger poops all over the place.

BbsBunny, I fully understand you. They do become one’s children.

Haha, I think every member on BB has that same mentality! I did a lot of research before getting Nugget neutered, like the pre-op and post-op care, checking my vet’s mortality rate (SO IMPORTANT), surgery/medicine costs… etc. This is when I realized I can never have real children. Because I worry way too much about everything.

I will start a new thread updating everyone on Nugget’s surgery and current status. I know there are other members that are considering altering their buns and have questions too.

Ashe’s behavior didn’t change much but she chews on furniture and carpet digs less. I actually haven’t seen her chew on furniture in forever, but she does start to dig on carpet a little when she’s bored still. But it was constant before her spay. She also asks to be petted and head rubbed A LOT more. I am not really even sure if this has anything to do with hormones or the fact that I moved her to an NIC condo. She is also a teen bunny so these behaviors may continue to change I am sure your bunny will be fine though.
