I was in the pet store today picking up pellets and I saw oxbow natural science  on the shelf. First time they have had that there. Opinions on it? It seems to be instead of just a timothy based pellet, a timothy/orchard/oat based pellet fortified with extra supplements.

Well, I think it’s good – not sure what my rabbits think – what I usually do is just mix it up with the regular Oxbow since it’s more expensive. My rabbits aren’t big pellet eaters either but they seem to eat them fine as far as I can tell.

Sometimes I’ll mix the organic w/the natural science and the regular too – now I’ll be honest I don’t know if it’s beneficial or not but I like the idea of the three mixed together for a little variety and it’s also more cost effective.

Yeah, I was thinking the buns might appreciate the variety of taste in the natural science. I know Powder loves oat hay and Stickers loves orchard, neither are very fond of timothy. So, they might like the taste better.

I normally feed the regular Adult Oxbow, but I bought a bag of this to try it out. At the time, I had a bunny who wasn’t doing well, not eating her pellets and losing weight, so I was trying to get something different to tempt her. The Natural Science pellets smell very strongly of rosemary to me. That might be something that most bunnies love, but it was kind of a turn off to me. I’m trying to use up the bag, so I just put a tiny amount of it in with my bunnies’ regular pellets every day. I guess they like them, because they always get eaten up.

They do smell strongly of rosemary, for sure. Hodari backs away from fresh rosemary like it’s poison, so I fretted that she’d hate these pellets, but she really likes them. I needed to switch from Zupreem and went with these because of the oat hay that’s in them; it’s her favorite hay.

Well, I got a bag and they seem to be a hit. I let them have them last night and this morning when I went to give them breakfast (they get their pellets broken up over the day, one half in the morning and one half at night) and Powder was digging/biting at my hands to try to shove his head into the bag like he does when I have craisins.

My bunny LOVES the natural science pellets. He has a very sensitive stomach and since switching from regular adult Oxbow to the NS bags he has felt a lot better and his poops are bigger and better.
