Over the past 2 days or so, Oreo just hasn’t been herself. Something seems off about her, yesterday she slept most of the day, and didn’t get excited when I walked past her cage [she usually does and begs for treats]…today she’s slept even more, has completely ignored me, and has been refusing treats altogether. Now, she won’t even come out to play. I’ve left her door open for about 20 minutes, and she hasn’t even left her bed.

I’m really worried, could she be sick or depressed? She’s an indoor bunny with a very clean cage. From what I can see, she’s been eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally.

I did just switch her litter pan from using aspen bedding, to Super Pet Critter Litter…when I first put it in, she freaked out and dug all of it out…then eventually when she had to “go”, she sucked it up and used it…maybe that has something to do with her odd behavior? Or maybe it’s something else…

Refusing treats is a bit of a worry. She definitely is eating otherwise?
Can you carry her into the play area and see how she does?

I had to look that litter up as I’m not familiar with it. Do you think she could have eaten some? I see its ball shaped so she might not like standing on it.
If you still have aspen, you could try putting that back in and see whether her mood changes. Or taking the box out for a few hours.

Thanks for responding! I put her dinner in her dish almost 2 hours ago and she hasn’t touched it, so I’m starting to get really concerned…she’s still sitting on her bed. I can’t reach in and take her out because she’s on the top level of her huge cage, I’d literally have to climb in to get her, which she isn’t a fan of…

I hope she’s going to be okay, the only vet option I have is tomorrow, but it’s extremely expensive and it’s too late for me to call out of work to take her, I’m freaking out right now=/

I don’t think she’s eaten any of the bedding, but the bag does say it’s almost completely organic, and it is absolutely non toxic, so I can’t imagine if she ate it that it would make her sick… I don’t know what could possibly be wrong with her.

Maybe she swallowed some of the round pieces and caused a blockage? Has she pooped any?

I think getting her out is the better of 2 evils. You’ll need to assess her. Feel if her ears are colder then usual, if her tummy is feeling different. Her moving is a good thing also as it helps the gut motility if that’s what the trouble is.

If she was against using the litter initially she likely hasn’t eaten it hopefully. It’s a clay and a binding agent so it could cause problems if a lot is eaten despite being non toxic.

It may be something unrelated to the litter. But she is showing some signs of something going on.
There are some things you can do at home that might turn her around. Tummy massage if its gut discomfort, syringe feeding fluids. However, if she still isn’t eating tomorrow then she would need to see the vet.

Thanks for all your inputs!! Luckily after I knew she hadn’t eaten for at least 12 hours I decided to gently…force feed her. I kept bugging her with hay until she took a nibble. After that I just kept calmly talking to her until she eventually jumped off her bed and drank some water… HUGE sigh of relief right there. A few minutes later I got her to eat a piece of her papaya treats and by the following morning she was back to her hyper normal self.

I called her vet when they opened and they said their only thought (since she was fine the next morning) was that something must have scared her…I just have no idea what it could’ve been… but she’s perfect now!!

                        Glad to hear she’s okay!
