My bun Yohio was neutered yesterday. When I brought him home he started to eat immediately. He still does, he eats and poops and pees and has seemed fine until tonight when he suddenly shows aggression and lunges at me. He’s not used to be confined to a small cage indoors, but am I right to interpret this behaviour as pain rather than stress from being indoors in a cage that’s just 5,4 sq feet? I have a prescription for metacam but I didn’t fill it because he seemed so well and there are no night-open pharmacies here so I can’t get it until tomorrow morning.

What do you think? Should I take him outside to his normal digs tonight? The vet said to keep him in a dry clean space for 4-5 days and he does have that in his outside hutch, I can close the run off (he mustn’t have contacxt with earth due to the risk of tetanus).

        Poor little baby!

I would just leave him indoors for now. He could be lunging out of stress, pain, or hormones are going all over the place. It could very well possibly be a mixture of all three. Just give him some space. If you have an xpen you can allow him some exercise in a day or two. But I wouldn’t put him outside right now.

Thanks! I felt so bad for not getting the metacam. He’s not done any teeth-grinding and he eats like a small horse and poops like a small elephant. I’ve put him in the bathroom for the night, it’s small but much bigger than the cage. I put in a blanket (fleece, clean), hidey-boxes, the litter-box, hay, lots of willow and appletwigs, water and oxbow pellets and I turned off the light to make it night (its 10 pm but not quite dark yet). No lunging-tendencies this time.

              How is Yohio doing today?

I would definitely get the Metacam filled.

The lunging could be due to pain or due to the fact that he is being territorial in new surroundings.

Yohio is much better today! I’ve got the Metacam but I’ve not given any because he seems fine. Good to know that I have it ready for him should he need it though. He’s very alert and inquisitive and hungry. He isn’t aggressive but he does want to get out of the bathroom. Well I would too if sb shut me in in a bathroom. His incisions looks fine, there’s a normal amount of swelling, eating, pooping, peeing is fine.

Bam I think have picked up on the smell of another male, he’s withdrawn into the bedroom and doesn’t come out.
