I plan on getting 2 rabbits, and I don’t want them to run out of water when I’m not home. Not that I plan on leaving them alone all day, but I work about 5 days a week and even though they’ll be in an air-conditioned house, I’m still a bit concerned they might dehydrate. I’m only asking because I’ve never seen anybody use these for rabbits, and I couldn’t help but wonder if there was a reason why. (Oh, and I wouldn’t use them for pellets – only water – because I know pellets aren’t meant to be fed in unlimited quanties.)

        Thanks in advance.

Looks safe enough. The only concern would be if you’re buns are a bit rambunctious like Tanlovers and mine they may knock it over if its not secured to the floor or weighted down. Enquiring energentic bunnies like to thoroughly examine and test new equipment.
Bullrider has a great idea, he has a fountain for his buns.

            ^^^ What?!
How was I never involved in seeing this fountain?! I hope bullrider posts some pics of it, I’d love to see it! But he’s never on recently…

Anyway, the automatic drinker looks okay, it just looks pretty light, and bunnies are notorious for being little troublemakers and tipping stuff they shouldn’t!

I would also worry about them knocking it over and making a big mess.

If you’re going to be gone for a normal work day, there’s really no need to worry that they’ll run out of water from a normal sized dish. Mine hardly drink any water as it is because they get so much from the veggies they eat. If they dumped their water and didn’t have any for 8 hours while I was at work, they really wouldn’t notice.

I agree with Elrohwen – not necessary – a big crock of fresh water should suffice. My rabbits never ever drink either – partly from being indoors and partly from veggies.

I wouldn’t worry either. If you are worried though, you could always have a back up water bottle. That is, if they will drink from it. Mine prefer a bottle, but I know a lot of buns don’t like them.
