How can you clean wooden toys?  I know I can clean the plastic ones by soaking them in vinegar and water but I need to sterilize (or try to) the wooden toys that  the bunnies have been around.  Trying to make the area as clean as I can and no bunny smells so the bunnies have a fresh new space to come home to.

There’s no real way to clean wood toys. You can wet them and hope they dry out, perhaps putting them on a radiator or something, but it’s kinda hard to totally dry them. The wood soaks up the liquid. The best you can do is either wipe them over with a damp cloth or throw them away and buy new ones.

I’m not entirely sure – sorry! Did anything come up on a google search?

            My grandmother said:

            1. Mix vinegar and water.
            2. Take a clean sponge or towel and dampen it with the vinegar/water solution.
            3. Wipe down the wooden toy.
            4. Dry it with a towel and let it sit/dry completely before returning it to use.

I’m not sure how effective it would be at getting out smell, wood soaks that in pretty good, but it might be worth a shot.

Since this thread is already about wooden toys…I am going to hijack for a quick question

Where do you guys get your wooden toys?  Our bun loves to chew on wood and I would like to redirect him to wooden toys instead of the baby gate or baseboards!!

              Thanks!  Sorry for the hijack!

Stickbun: This is a website I found a while ago. I have yet to buy anything from them but it looks like a neat site. http://www.funnybunnytoyco.com/page/page/1272197.htm

The only thing about the vinegar and water method is that the bunny may not like the smell/taste of it afterwards because of the vinegar. Although I clean the trim on my condo that way. I just spray my vinegar and water spray on it and let it soak in…

I would throw them away or just save them until they’ve been bonded for awhile and they probably would’ve care of the smell by then.
