My bunny hates being in his x-pen so I’m looking for some toys that will keep him occupied for longer periods of time. I want them to involve food, since he has no interest in the normal toys like wood chews, willow balls, apple sticks, flip n toss, etc. I’ve seen kebobs and those wire balls that you can put hay or veggies in, but what else is out there? Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated

P.S. I’ve made treat bags in the past and they didn’t work… I put hay and raisins in a brown paper bag and he sniffed it and just walked away. No interest whatsoever. I guess he’s just spoiled and wants instant gratification lol.

You can try putting a different type of hay in the treat bag that he normally doesn’t get. Maybe Orchard Grass hay or oat hay? My rabbits go CRAZY for treat bags. You can try different treats too.

There is an interactive toy (I forget what it’s called) by Living World and it keeps bunnies busy. You put treats in it and they have to figure out how to get the treats out. I don’t know how long you can do that for, since treats should be given sparingly. hmmm I am trying to think….I am extremely tired but I can think of some later.

I think trying different hay and treats for the treat bag might work, but your bun might be picky, I don’t know.

          Good luck!

Well… guess it depends how messy you want it to become. Edible plants and such are great for my buns, as well as digging. So a pesticide free potted plant is always fun, but it makes a huge mess. lol

I also have http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4347898&f=PAD%2FpsNotAvailInUS%2FNo for my buns, they had a blast digging the fleece lining apart on the inside. And Stickers jumps up on the top sometimes. Just be aware you’ll have to reline it with new fleece or it becomes “boring” and you’ll have fluffy fleece all over the floor if your bun is like mine.

Uhm. Another thing my buns like is something like : http://www.amazon.com/Pacon-5850-Kraft-Wrapping-Natural/dp/B000NDKVJY/ref=sr_1_1?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1367979119&sr=1-1 that, just make sure it’s bun safe (the stuff made for kids is usually good) and roll out a huge bunch of paper into a makeshift tunnel and they spend hours running, digging and destroying it. Again, messy though.

My bun’s favorite toy at the moment is, oddly enough, a large plastic Easter egg that I hide a treat in, usually a slice of carrot or some of her pellets. She’ll chase that thing around the room trying to get the treat out, then when she’s distracted I open it just enough that the next time she pushes it, it spills open.

She’s also had great fun with TP tubes I hide a slice of banana in.

Other than that, when I let her out of her rabbitat for some exercise her favorite thing to do is jump up on the couch and snuggle.

Olivia has fun with one of those cat treat balls. You put the treat in and they have to work to get it out. Only problem is she’s very clever and has figured out how to remove the lid!

Have you tried cardboard boxes and paper? Mine don’t play with toys, but they will entertain themselves with a variety of boxes and big pieces of paper (like the kind used for shipping)

I have noticed that Hazel really likes to dig, so I am going to take a cardboard box and put some shredded paper in there, and also hang some other things like toilet paper rolls stuffed with hay, from the ceiling of the box. I have seen some great examples of cardboard box toys both on this website and the House Rabbit society website (rabbit.org). I plan on hiding some treats in the “digging” area so she feels like she found a prize when she dug in there.

It seems like she is most bored in the morning when I am leaving for work, so I would like to put it in there tomorrow morning for her before I leave.

One of my bunnies favorite thing right now is this willow basket from Dr. Fosters and Smith in the large size.

My rabbits love the willow in this toy! Some willow toys aren’t as good. I gave it to the on Sunday and it is already almost gone!

I also like the oxbow grass mats. I put them in a cardboard Hidey hut on the floor and they chew and dig at it.

Baby toys like baby chains, baby keys, or stacking cups is more of my bunnies favorites!

A thing to keep your rabbit more interested in his toys is to rotate them once a week so your rabbit feels like he’s getting new toys!

The toy Amy was talking about is called the Teach and Treat! I have it for my bunnies.
