Just cleaned Java’s box and was sitting next to him in his box when I noticed this odd poop. It looks like two are attached together by … ???  Almost looks like a piece from his seagrass mat, but he really doesn’t eat it – just some nibbles – and this still seems quite odd.

Looks like my super macro setting blurred the “attachment” part. Anyways, this is how it looks – quite detailed! Can anyone tell me if this is something to be worried about? It appears to be the only one that has this – the rest are normal. Most are just usual orb shapes, although some are egg shaped like these two.

Isn’t it just fur? Covered in poop. Like the chains of poop-on-a-string they sometimes have when they are shedding?

It’s quite a hefty bit of fur if that’s the case. I ripped them apart and it does seem like fur. But he’s done shedding and never once had this during.

Hope it’s nothing bad. Does he seem well otherwise?

Yup, looks like fur to me. I call those “barbell poops”.

You should give bunny a “wet hands” grooming to make sure there is no loose fur. And make sure he is eating lots of hay.

Sorry for the late response! I almost forgot about this thread.

He’s perfectly fine in every other way, it was just that one poop. He always eats TONS and TONS of hay, like … TONS. And drinking lots of water. He finished shedding about a week and a half ago, so there’s hardly any loose fur anymore, which is why it was so strange to be seeing that weird poop NOW of all times. Oh well. I won’t worry unless I see another one or more of them … thanks for the replies!

My bunnies get this – I’m pretty sure it’s fur. If there are no other symptoms I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
