This is my first rabbit and My baby boy lionhead is now 5 months and i have read that boys can be nuetered at 6 months however we were wondering what the correct age really is because there is so much info that isnt very helpful! He mounts EVERYTHING including stuffed animals and our poor other rabbit and he sprays me constanly so this is a thing that needs to get done. Another question i have is does it change their personality? he is such a sweet little thing and i am also scared of the stress it will cause. And last question i have (sorry question overload) is how do i find the right vet to do this? because this is my baby we are talking about… we also saw flyers that the local shelter would do it for a small fee? is this a bad idea?

Thank you! sorry for the overloads just nervous!

Check out this page from the Bunny Info section (drop down menu above) for answers to a lot of your questions. You want an experienced exotics, rabbit savvy vet. But often a shelter uses a vet that is very experienced, and that’s how they keep the costs down. I’d say after reading the page on the site that I’ve linked here, feel free to pose any addional questions so we can elaborate. But this should help a lot.

P.S. Are you absolutely certain you have two boys? There is great difficulty telling the gender of bunnies until they clearly are boys (like you’ve seen a penis on both of them) and if they are humping at all it could already be too late if one is an unspayed female. If you are even a little bit unsure, please separate them immediately until one month after one is either spayed or neutered. You want to avoid an “oops” litter.

Thank you sooo much @ RabbitPam! very helpful link and yes we already seperated them because my white lop bunny was growing furious with all the humping and couldnt get sleep.
