Sally and Harley have started shedding a couple weeks ago. It was pretty light but the past few days it has gotten HEAVY. There is so much hair everywhere. I am constantly sweeping and vaccuuming the house and it just piles up in the corners of their cage soon after. Their fur is starting to look a little rough. Anyhoo, how long is this hair battle going to go on? I’m afraid that Harley will ingest too much hair grooming Sally or Sally ingest too much hair grooming herself. I’ve already found a few poos strung together with fur. I try to get as much as I can off of them but my gosh it’s EVERYWHERE! How much fur could one possibly shed!?

How long does this usually last for?

At the most a month. Usually more like 2 weeks. A really big shed can happen once or twice a year, then 2 small sheds in between. But with 2 bunnies, it must seem like a huge amount of fur.

Combing really helps. Also, a damp paper towel can help pick up a lot and it will stick to it. What you’re already doing is great, and just hang in there. It helps them to comb or brush and clean daily so they don’t swallow fur. Give them lots of hay so they can pass any they ingest easily.
