My bun is really good about going in the litterbox, we trained him early and he always went in his box. I always have him out of his cage and we have a litterbox in the corner of the room he is in most and he goes in there when he pees but when he poops, he always goes right in front of the box. He just started doing this! Any reasons why, or something I could do to help?

Does he have hay inside the litter box? Or access to hay only while he’s in the box? Many bunnies like to eat and poop at the same time.

Also, are you sure that he’s actively pooping outside the box, or are they getting knocked out when he leaves the box? I’ve never seen mine poop outside the box, but there are always little scattered poops that get stuck to their feet and tracked around.

I will definitely put the hay near it so he can eat it while he poops – I have noticed that he does that when he’s in his cage!

And yes, the litter box is directly in the corner of the room and he will run over to it and stand right in front of it and make the poop and then run back to where he was playing before. He knows that he’s supposed to go in there and he has been up until recently! I think the hay will work, though, because he definitely does love to eat! Haha, thank you for your help!
