I got this thing at Walmart for my bunny. it has sunflower seeds. I thought i read somewhere that rabbits are not allowed to have sunflower seeds. But  on the package it says it is for bunnies. So I am assuming that bunnies can have sunflower seds. So now I am really confused……. Please Help!

Don’t always trust the packaging, some big companies are only trying to make money, I once saw a packet of rabbit ‘treats’ with dried raw potato in  , I hid them behind some other treats . Don’t feed the sunflower seeds, you can get rabbit treats with egg, milk, honey and wallnuts in, it doesn’t mean they are good for them.

Alfalfa, sunflower seed, wheat, whole corn, oat groats, safflower seed, honey, ground corn, feeding oatmeal, artifical peanut flavoring, and soybean oil. These are some of the things that stand out to me.

Totally agree with bunnylova. With treats, it’s best to stick to companies like Oxbow that don’t put unhealthy things like nuts, peas, corn or seeds. Or just stick to treats like fresh or dried fruit or carrots (small amounts). Most bunnies love craisins.

Bunnies will certainly eat seeds. That doesn’t mean it’s good for them. They are actually quite fattening. It would be like feeding your bunny potato chips or other junk food. Bunnylova is right, companies will make things just so they can make a profit. They don’t always take an animal’s nutritional needs into consideration when formulating them. It is probably just stuff they can get cheap, then they just slap a picture of a bunny on the label. I would just stick with some fresh or dried fruits like LPT suggested.
