So I’m still having issues litter training Siha. She is just refusing to use the tray! Right now I have the tray in the same cage as Thane, but in the corner opposite his. She is currently using a spot in our sitting room that is just not convienent to put a tray in. I’m considering blocking it off, but I really don’t want to have to do that.

Siha and Thane both have free roam of the living room during the day.

I’m really unsure as to what she wants in a litter tray. I think we’re going to buy a high back tray once we’re paid this month, but until then what can I do to stop her using the carpet? Any advice?

My “trick”  for getting smells out of carpet is sprinkling baking soda generously over the spot and letting it sit for a while. Then I use vinegar over that to “fizz out the stink”. before wiping up the whole mess. It’s how I won a pee war with one of my cats.

Other than that, I’m not sure. It might just come down to which is less inconvenient; blocking it off or putting a litter tray there.

That is EXACTLY what I do to remove pee when Sally had a whoops moment! It really works even for the older spots if you didn’t catch it enough. And I would lessen the amount of space she has until she picks up litter training.

I’ll try the baking soda trick. I’m planning on having my carpets cleaned as soon as her habits improve.

Last night was a good night, no pee on the carpet except for one little spot I expect was marking instead of actual pee. We also had a miracle moment last night! For the first time in 3 weeks Siha ate the same pellets as Thane!! She was on a mix feed when I got her and she simply refused to eat anything but a small amount of hay and some carrots. Things are getting better
