        Hi All,

I am a bunny nut living in Lincolnshire UK and I am looking to open up my home to rescue buns.

I have been wanting to do this for a while now and have recently had our barn and out buildings converted into a bunny wonderland filled with toys and comfy spaces.

So, please if anyone near my area would like help to do anything at all to help bunnies I would really really love to help!

I currently have my little Alfie buns who absolutely adores bunnies, he is a 1 year old neutered male and his new wifey Bloo, an 11 month old spayed female. We recently lost our beautiful Pepperpot which has really pushed me to give a good life to any bunnies I can  help.

        We’d love to help!

        Thanks,

        Bunny nut and Alfie x

          Hi, Alfiebuns,
It sounds like you would be perfect as a foster bunny home. I would suggest you look up shelters near you and inquire about helping them out as a foster home. You can find any near you by going to Petfinder.com, select a search for rabbits, input your zip code (I don’t know if they are in the UK also, but this works in the US) or location, and see what pops up as adoptable rabbits. It will tell you where they are available, and it’s kind of an indirect way to locate shelters near you with adoptables within a several mile radius. Otherwise, you can do a search on House Rabbit Society for shelters, or just a google search near you.

If you want to start a rescue yourself, talk to some established ones and find out how they went about starting their organization. But most shelters are desperate for families that will take in fosters until a new owner comes along.

            Hi RabbtPam,

            Thank you for replying!

I contacted all of my local rescues when I moved here and was unbelievably told they didn’t need any help! This includes the RSPCA and a couple of other large bunny rescues. I have also been told that I’m just too far away from some of the rescues too and my offer to travel wasn’t accepted. All in all I’ve been bugging rescues for about 6 months now and been shamefully hoping that a bunny rescuer would retire or at least go on a long holiday

It is great to know that rabbits seem to have a great number of willing rescuers and volunteers here which is the most important thing but I just miss it so much as I used to foster were I lived before moving here and only really moved to where I am now to have more land for buns as it is in the countryside as opposed to the city I was living in.

I will definitely check out your suggestion and for now will have to just keep stalking bunny websites to get my fix!

I don’t know much about setting up a rescue, but I can give you a link to two very good rescue centres in the midlands ( one is now a sanctuary ) http://www.hopperhaven.org.uk/ http://www.fatfluffs.com/ and a good, bulk rabbit feed: allen and page natural rabbit feed. Could you post some pics of the barn? I would really like to see.

Thanks bunnylova I’d actually not come across those two rabbit rescues so I’m very excited now and have already fallen in love with the bunnies on the websites!

Yes I will definitely take some pics tomorrow, hopefully with my little buns starring in them but they have been avoiding outside all week because the hate the wind! I’ve been wanting to share my bunny hotel for a while now but no one I know has been interested lol
