I notice a lot of people have fun little play houses or boxes for their buns to play in and hide in there and I am really interested in getting one for mine!

        Any suggestions?

Go wild with your imagination. Rabbits simply like to have a safe, somewhat dark place that puts a roof over their heads to protect them from any potential flying predator. . . .

That’s true! It would be kinda fun to make one! What material should I use?

Exactly! Mess around with a few cardboard boxes and make a fort, or a little house of somekind. Just make sure the cardboard doesn’t have any toxic ink on it of any kind, and take off that icky tape! Especially if your bunny is a shredder. Cardboard is usually the best, since it’s something they can manipluate with their teeth easily, and is usually safe if ingested in small quantities.

It’s actually really fun to make something for them that they use and play with. It’s really rewarding, and your bun will have a blast.

I took a big cardboard box, and cut two holes in it. I put some shreaded newspaper at the bottom. Another great option is the cottontail cottage, available here at Binkybunny.com. They are quite durable. You could build a playground with lots of platforms, bridges and ramps and that should keep their attention. You could also build some sort of maze, but I’ve never done that.

Awwww that sounds like such a great idea! And totally simple to make, too!  Thank you so much!

You can do something simple and cheap, like a cardboard box as mentioned, or go with something a little more fancy like the Cottontail Cottage or Maze Haven from this site.

My buns have cardboard boxes in their condos which they use as a hidey hut and bed. I just cut a door and a window and they customize it themselves. When they come out for playtime, we have the Cottontail Cottage in the living room.

Bunnies aren’t picky – a couple cardboard boxes with holes cut in them work really well. You can get really creative with this too.

I have the Maze Haven and my bunnies love it, but they also have boxes that they love.

It’s funny, my buns aren’t really interested in boxes. They spend their days underneath my coffee table hanging out with each other.

Thanks, all My bun likes to hide and be in small spaces, but then again he sits under the kitchen table all day! I am going to try it and make it myself and see how it goes Thanks for all the suggestions! I cant wait to get started!

The funny thing is, while they all like to have their own homey little burrow/warren area, when they really feel secure, they also like to get to the highest point they can to see and hear and observe and RULE THE WORLD, like Jemimah safe here in her play pen.

She definitely looks like she IS ruling the world. “We are not amused.” as Queen Victoria would’ve said =)
