I was wondering has anyone else ever seen such a drastic change in their bun’s energy levels and attitudes?

It’s been a week since Siha’s restitch and I have noticed a huge change in her. She still only eats hay and veggies and is still having tiny, slightly sticky poops. But what’s really concerning is her general attitude. She does stretch her legs out a lot and looks like she is relaxed, but that’s about all she does. She doesn’t do her runs, no flops and she doesn’t play with her ball anymore.

Litter training is still difficult. I know she is trying to poop in the tray but her poops are so tiny they usually stick to her tail. Then she will lie in her litter tray, stretched out. Thane spends a little time with her, grooming her, but that’s about the extent of their interaction on a daily basis.

I am also worried she may have an ear infection. And something wrong with her hips. And something with her teeth

I talked with my husband last night about my worries and got very very upset at the thought of there being something serious wrong with her. Financially, things are so so tight (I’m working, husband is looking) and I will be heartbroken if there is something serious.

There is one vet about an hour and a half away from here who is the best in the country with rabbits. I intend on making an appointment to take the two buns to see her next Friday. Praying there is nothing serious wrong and I can get my excited happy bun back.

Update: I’ve booked an appointment with THE specialist for next Saturday. Now the waiting game.

I don’t really have any advice other than to see a vet, which you’re doing, so I hope things go well! I assume she had her teeth checked already? The symptoms seem to go along with teeth problems, but of course it could be something else.

I had asked them to check when she was under anaesthesia but I don’t know if they did and I forgot to ask. Her last owners allowed her a lot of outdoor time, so I also wonder if she has a gut parasite or something.

She’s been much livelier today. Thane and Siha have been spending their days in the living room together and there haven’t been any arguments. In fact it appears as if they have gotten over their dominance battle.

Fingers crossed there isn’t too much wrong with her and that she’ll be a healthier bun soon

It might just be taking her more time to recover. It is major surgery, after all, and a week is not very long. But if you are worried, it’s best you get her checked out. You know your baby best.

As for the litter training, it will take several weeks, possibly a month or so, before her territorial hormones die down.

Why do you suspect an ear infection?

She spends a good amount of time digging at her ear and shaking her head. I tend to obsess, so I’m not sure if it’s just me or there is a problem.

I am concerned that her teeth might be an issue, so I will go ahead with the vet visit next week. She is perking up each day, so hopefully there isn’t anything wrong with her. Litter training is getting better, but it’s not perfect just yet. I’m so impatient!
