Ok, I woke up this morning to find quite a bit of fur in Bea’s bed, I’m not sure if its just shedding or if she’s nesting? We pulled all the fur out the bed to clean and she started growling..But she ran over to the pile and was running round with her fur in her mouth, we managed to get it out of her mouth eventually, shes eating/drinking fine, and there isn’t any bald patches. Shes never been around any males so i know she isn’t pregnant She’s getting her spade in 2 weeks also. If it is a phantom pregnancy can it be dangerous? Sorry to pester, Shes just my first bun and im a newbie to all of this

She’s also running around with hay hanging out her mouth and not chewing it, I think it may be her nesting :S

It could be a false pregnancy. I wasn’t aware you had male buns as well. Where are they housed? Even if she can smell them around it could jump start a false pregnancy.

Nope theres no male buns here Shes literally still running around with hay in her mouth, its bizarre. What do i do if i find the fur in her cage again? Do i just leave it in her bed and try and ignore it, Because i read somewhere if i take it out she will keep pulling her fur out. At the same time i’m scared she will eat it

Ive just took the clump of hay out her mouth what shes been carrying round and out came a lump of fur with it When i took it out she tried getting the fur back in, Is it usual for them to carry fur inside their mouths? I’m getting a bit worried now :S Like i said before shes eating her veg and pellets fine. Its bizarre

I heard that of you remove her fur nest she will continue to pull more for out to compensate. And I have no experience in this but I’m sure someone will stop by shortly. I wouldn’t be worried unless she stops eating. Have you checked her over? Is she having bald spots?

Yeah i think i’m just going to leave her be, This might be why she’s been a bit snappy lately. Yeah i checked her over this morning when i found her because of the amount of fur i found, but no bald spots luckily

At least you have her spay scheduled! Perfect timing! I luckily didn’t have to deal with any false pregnancies with Sally. Especially since she had a boy bun (Harley) as a next door neighbor!

If she is having a false pregnancy then the nesting would be like a final stage in the pregnancy. They don’t build the nest until the day before delivery so maybe in 2-3 days time you can remove the nest and she will be done with that phase. Have you done any research? If you click on the search tab in this forum and type in false pregnancy I bet a lot will come up if you’re needing more urgent information and don’t have the time to wait for a more experienced member to offer you advice

Just read a few and they have mentioned digging, which shes been doing ALOT in the past week, digging at sheets, pillows anything she can find. I do believe she is going through a false pregnancy. Poor Bun I feel sorry for her doing all this work for nothing
Edit: I’ve found out where shes pulling it from, its her chest just under her mouth, Shes doing it as i type

Like you said earlier i havee seen that if she was pregnant this would be the final stage and it should stop in a few days, So fingers crossed not much longer, and also it should stop when they have the spade, So glad we are going in a few weeks! Don’t want to see this again

On the positive side though, she WON’T leave me alone! When i stand up shes circling my feet and when i’m sitting down shes got to be led touching me.. She’s never been a cuddly bun. I’m not complaining about that part tho
