Why would a single male bunny nest and pull tufts of fur out? He’s an inside rabbit. Moose is about 3-4 years old. I’ve only had him for about 3 months but I’ve known him since his was like 2 months old and he’s always kinda done this nesting thing.

Are you 100% certain he’s a he? Has he been neutered at all?

I’ve never heard of males nesting like that. Where is he pulling fur from? Can you tell us more about him?

Your description also makes me a little suspicious that he might not be a he. Has the sex ever been confirmed by a vet? Mix-ups happen all the time, since their parts can be pretty difficult to see.

My Nana and I just checked him/her and we think he is actually a she. So that explains the nesting and fur pulling. I’m still going to be getting her fixed. Thank you all for you help.

I want to add that males can display nesting behaviour sometimes. Usually it’s desexed males and while they dont really pull fur, you might see them carry bunches of hay in their mouth or actually build a nest with hay or paper. It’s not that common but does happen.

I’m glad to read you’re going to get your rabbit checked out and desexed. At 3-4 years old its not too late and will be very beneficial for her health.
I think it would be wise to have it checked for parasites also in case the fur pulling is related to that.
