Lately when Lucy is hungry or bored, she pushes her litter box around her cage, and then occasionally make an accident on the spot where her box should be. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a heavier box that she can’t drag around her cage. Her current box is a large plastic dish washing container. I use to have it zip tied to her cage wall, but it was just easier to clean to not have it attached. I looked at Petsmart a little while ago at the cat litter boxes, but I didn’t like them that much.

instead of zip ties, try a latch like they sell for bird cages that just screws off.on or clips on? My buns can move even the largest cat pan.

Drill a small hole in the side about an inch down from the top. Loop a zip tie through and close it. Get a dog clip to connect the loop to the pen. This way you just disconnect the clip when you clean, leaving the zip tie in place.

Binder clips work well for me and are very easy to remove when it’s time to clean. Although I guess this would depend on what kind of cage you have.

I have this same problem haha. I was thinking of doing Velcro at the bottom but I assume that will only work if your bunny won’t mess with the little Velcro patch while the box is not there.

Lol I only know about the clip idea cause of my parrot. My buns have no cage so I just have to keep moving their boxes back.

Yeah that’s a really good idea! I’ll have to look around my house tomorrow for things I can use.

These solutions should work well with any box.

Is she starting to outgrow her current box? Maybe that could be reason she’s moving it in the first place. Or it’s just plain old entertaining to shove it around.

I think it’s just boredom! It usually only happens when I sleep in too late and didn’t get up at feed her at the usually time.

Lol sounds like mine. If I don’t let them out for play time they move their boxes, or if I am too late on dinner. :p

What I do with the fiesty bunnies at the shelter- I get 2 litterboxes ( same size ) and punch holes in the side of the 1st one. I thread zipties through, attach it to the cage and then stick the second one in the first. This is easy to remove and clean, but keeps them from moving it.

As for digging, I would suggest the litter screens they sell on binkybunny!
