I’m so worried, I’ve only had him for a bit over 2 months. I changed the hay he was eating, and his pellets lowered, and he has veggies. and I just noticed that today he has  liquid diarrhea- only  a little amount, but I dont know. It’s tiny, but it’s still there, I got rid of the veggies, and I took the pellets, but fresh water in a bowl, and he has meadow hay, not Timothy. I will rush to the store tomorrow morning to buy the TImothy Hay again. what he is used to. What can I do at home, what is smart, or should I find a Vet for him here, and call the Vet???

ANY TIPS PLEASE, I”M sooo afraid for him because I love him soo much. and I read things like he can die in a day. but it’s such a small amount.

I just read in one of your other threads that he is 2 years old. Is that correct?
Also that you adopted from a Rescue. Could you ring them for further advice?

Diarrhea can be risky because of dehydration so if you see more then definitely take him to the vet.

You’ve done the right thing removing pellets and veggies for now. Hopefully you’ll see good results. Make sure he has easy access to water (preferably a bowl) and you could also give him some via a syringe.

Did you only just switch the hay he’s eating or has he been on it a while? Meadow hay is perfectly fine but do check whats in the mix. It can sometimes contain alfalfa hay or clover which can be too rich for some rabbits.

Thanks, He’s been on Timothy since I’ve had him. and a friend of mine gave me a whole bag of Meadow Hay cause her bunny didnt like its taste. so I thought I would try it, since It was free. and now I’m not using it again, and will run to the store tomorrow morning once it opens. to buy the old stuff. and he is 2 years old. I hadnt thought about the shelter. but I hunted my email communications, and found the vets they recommended. so I will call the vet tomorrow morning as well.

Do you see any normal poop? With a change of diet they can get sticky, diarrea-ish cecotropes, you know the type of poop they’re supposed to eat, plus the normal, round, firm poop. The cure is most often hay (not alfalfa, “normal” grass-hay like timothy or meadow). With lots of hay, the stomach can balance itself out again. But if he isn’t eating and if there are no normal poop at all, then it’s much more worrisome. Please read the above link sent to youy by Jersey and let us know how it works out.

He is eating the Hay, and was eatign the Veggies/ Pellets like crazy he loves those. and he is still nibbling on the Meadow HAy, and Eating it. not as fast as he is with Timothy Hay. Also he is majority normal poo, but he had pure runny. little tiny bits. and if its only small, then it’s better that it gets treated now, then later. so I guess keep the pellets away and veggies for a bit, and then right away the Timothy Hay tomorrow….. :/
