Tonight I noticed Bean’s stomach was gurgling a bit. I’m very scared, because he had a coccidia episode 5 weeks ago.

He didn’t get any grass hay for about a day, because I was on vacation and he was left with a pet sitter. Today, I got him his hay, and he’s eating it just fine. He was enthusiastic about pellets, and finished them off. Also, today I changed his food- he used to have Kaytee, but my Oxbow came in the mail, so I did 1/2 and 1/2. I know this was a too rapid introduction, but one time we completely ran out of pellets, and I didn’t transition him at all, and he was fine, so against my better judgement, I assumed it would be okay. I was eager to change the pellets because the Oxbow is much healthier.

He has been acting perfectly normal, but I’m SOOOOOO paranoid.

Some gurgling noises are normal digestion sounds. Very intense or very frequent gurgling or no noises at all is more cause for concern. I wouldn’t worry as long as his poops and appetite are normal.

In the future, make sure your pet sitter has lots of hay. Buns should never be without it.

Of course. I left A LOT of hay with her, but she was feeding it to him in the wrong place, so there was TONS of wasted hay.
