My 7 month old Gunter got fixed a month and half ago and every time I leave the room (I lock him up before I go) he finds a way to escape and jumps over the barrier between his side and mine and takes massive poops on my bed!?!?! I don’t get why he does this every time…He has half my room and before this repetitive behavior, I would never lock him up and my bed would be fine. It seems like getting him fixed didn’t do crap except the fact that Gunter doesn’t thump that much anymore. Help?

During the first month after a neuter / spay hormones go wild and they actually can have surges of high hormones, until it balances out. During this time, he probably learned this trick of bed jumping and found it fun and has decided it’s now a good habit. You’ll just have to break him of the habit and block off your bed a bit better. Some buns don’t like noises so could try putting crinkly paper / bags on the bed to try to spook him off. Your bed smells heavily like you so marking it is normal, especially at his age and so close to his neuter.

I spy with my little eye….. A fellow redditor! You totally posted this on r/rabbits as well
In response to your question, I am inclined to agree with Stickerbunny. One other thing that may just deter him from jumping onto the bed is a trick a friend of mine used to get her puppy to stop jumping on it: place boxes/large fluffy pillows around the edge of your bed before you leave, just to make it look a little taller. If it’s a difficult jump to begin with, it may seem juuuuuuust daunting enough to discourage him from making the leap. Best of luck!

If I’m reading this right, he never did this before when he wasn’t blocked off from the bed? He could get up there before?

Could you trial letting him stay free range in the room if it is sufficiently rabbit-proofed? I only suggest this because I went through a period with my pair where they would mark my couch. They did this if I shut them in that room. If I left the door open, they didn’t mark the couch.
