We were playing around. I’ll drag my hand around in circles on the carpet, and he was chasing it, doing binkys, bunny 500’s, as usual. We were playing. All of a sudden, he does two binkys and stops moving. He hops under the bed and I notice he’s not stepping on his back right paw. Could he have just over did it? He’s hiding under the bed now, moving from spot to spot every couple minutes. Should I take him to the vet?? I don’t know what’s wrong…I’m really scared.

It sounds like he has landed awkwardly. Keep and eye on it and if he is still limping in the morning I would book in to the vet to have it checked.

Same thing happened to my bunny last weekend!

Most importantly, make sure you confine the little guy into a little space until you can get him to the vet. You don’t want him upsetting it more or moving around in pain. The injury could be a tendon, a sprain, or bone injury. My little guy didn’t put much weight on his right back foot but as of today it’s looking a lot better. He still lifts it from time to time but he can run a bit with it and stand up sometimes. Keep an eye on him and make sure he’s eating/drinking, as a bunny in pain may not eat.

And lastly, don’t be scared! Even if it’s a tendon, sprain, or bone injury, they’re usually all treatable! Just keep an eye on the bun and get him to the vet when you can. Hopefully they can give you some metacam for pain and an anti-inflammatory since it’s probably a soft-tissue injury.

Oh no, poor bunny! Everybody has given great advice so far – confinement, close monitoring (including food intake and poo output), and a vet appointment at the earliest convenience. Hope everything is alright!

He hopped around on both feet today- and hoped up to/around me. c: But he’s still not better, when i picked him up, he wouldn’t put pressure on his back right paw still. :/ So, should i take him to the vet?

Yes, it’s always a good idea to see the vet in situations like this.

Always go to the vet! But if he’s putting pressure on it, then it’s most likely a tendon or sprain! That’s good news. In a couple weeks with limited movement and a good diet, he’ll be back to 100%.

At the very least, the vet could give him something for pain.

Definitely see a vet. He may need it wrapped to limit movement, or an xray.
