MY bunny is 14 weeks old…..house bunni, started off slow as she obviously didn’t know us.

we recently had her vaccinated and she has settled down and getting a lot closer to us when we let her run round.

she is generally happy for us to pick her up, doesn’t destroy the house with poops……lately, after making a lot of headway with her, for example, she’ll come to me, eat from my hand…..she is now growling at me and being very aggressive. pouncing at me!

i try to let her out of her hutch daily, but it seems the more i let her out the more she tries to test me……even this morning she was still upset that after acting up last night, i put her back in her hutch…….

        are bunnies really that moody?

I had a very moody bun, he would normally get mad if you put your hand near his food. When you let her out do you put your hand near her food? Or maybe it’s because the hutch is her territory? I’m not sure what you could actually do. My grumpy bun lived in the garden. Maybe a friend might calm her down?

That’s her coming into her hormones and starting to be territorial. Spaying, when she’s old enough will help this behavior.

This is normal behavior at this age. Females are not spayed until at least 5 months, and usually we wait until closer to 6 months depending on the comfort level of your vet and her size. So I would do my best to just stay out of her way for now. Allow her exercise, even if it’s in a limited space, and try to clean her pen and tend to her needs when she’s out so you’re not “invading her territory”. After the spay, these behaviors should calm considerably.
